Flashback

I was at IKEA the other and decided to go check on this place to make sure it was still holding up. I thought the family might be glad to know that it's still there, although the current residents put in a new pool. Despite the recreational upgrade, however, it appears that the sewer line is still having problems as evidenced by the bare strip in front. It was eerie to go there and feel just familiar enough to identify the houses, but completely foreign otherwise. It was the first time I've been to Woodridge since we left there in 1986, but still I wondered about the secret sidewalk, the devoted Salvation Army enlistees next door (they also had stickers—LOTS of stickers) and a strange little red head named Nicole who could fold up in our closet without us even knowing . . .
