Small town funny

I wish I had my camera. For those of you who took the pleasure of watching Steve the lawn mower guy on youtube, this is for you. Yesterday while driving home from the library, we passed an intersection with a man driving a lawn mower. No, he was not on his lawn. He was waiting to turn on to route 14. I couldn't help myself, I just laughed. Gotta love the small town.

Day Three

Alas, no pictures as I don't have the camera and Justin said it wasn't saving the pictures. Oh well, think Alec Baldwin in an ASA Uniform. NOT!

Worked four games today and I am completely exhausted. I am washing my uniform's now. (Two pair pants, two shirts, Two hats, knee brace, multiple socks and underwear. Overall a good day. Mom, Justin, Jodi, Michelle (and kids), Roger and Janet joined for a picnic dinner and the last game of the day. Thanks all for the support and for those who couldn't make it we did miss you. Love
Dad

Does anyone else see it?

I was watching 30 Rock tonight and was reminded of a visual similarity I've noticed before. Is it just me?

Yeah, Dad or Alec Baldwin? Sometimes it's hard to tell . . .

crazy illinois day

All of you left before the fun could really begin. What a rollercoaster this week has been. I won't go into detail, because that is no fun. I thought today I would talk of weather. Weather you say? Yes. Typical Illinois weather. Sunshine, a nice breeze, crazy cool weather, light rain, mild tornado, heavy rain, and sunshine again. Ahhh, what a beautiful day. Yes, we are fine. It hit just south of us about two miles from what I hear. Gosh I love this place. HA!

Thanks Grandpa for the Bubbles

The boys loved playing with the bubbles from grandpa,--they tried watering the tree with them, popping them with their mouths and much more! Well, until Jacob dumped them all out. BUT he dumped them outside! Small victory for mommy!

The party after the party

Sorry I'm behind on my blogging but I have been dying to blog this. During our fabulous family reunion there were several people who wanted treats and more treats. So, what did we do after those people left???? We made an amazing treat! That's what you get for leaving early! Here are some fun pics--we made Paula Deans Ooy Gooy Butter Cake. And you know what it tasted like if it is Paula Deans and has butter in it--yes two layers of cake and gooeyness, so eat your hearts out because I know we did!

Day Two

Temperatures here have been mid 80's so not too bad. Only had two games scheduled for today. Bases at 10:00 and plate at 14:00. Even though it was only mid 80's, it was still very hot with the gear on. UIC did no evaluations on either me or my partner today. I asked him if that meant there was no hope or we were doing OK. He took the latter and told us he did not need to do evaluations on us as we are doing the job. It was nice to hear.

Why only two games? Today was pool play to determine seedings and that was all the games there were. basically we all got three games for the first two days and as I started last night, that made my three. Tomorrow however is another story.

I start at 08:00 and have been told to expect 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00. A long day. That will be the longest of the tournament as teams will begin to be eliminated. Saturday, if I get a game, it will only be one.

Thanks for your prayers and support. Love Dad

Day One

No pictures. Mom is supposed to take some on Thursday but the first game is over and my evaluation was not too bad. Not as good as I wanted (perfect) but pretty darn good. I was on the plate for the first round of games. Only three notes to review and they were not too bad. When I get pictures will post. Oh, uniform for evening games -- Navy Blue ASA shirt. Love Dad

Our newest addition

Bad photo. Good dog. 8 months old, pureblood Yellow lab. Michael was hesitant (to the point of tears) but everyone seems to be getting along just fine now. Michael just didn't understand why he was so hyper when we met him—wild new kids=wild dog. He has calmed down beautifully and even Liz is getting used to him. I think we'll all be very happy. :)

Family fast

My doctor called this afternoon to tell me the baby had a Choroid Plexus Cyst. Yes, you can google it but you won't like it. Most of the time they disappear within a few months and there are no problems. However, if there are any other defects along with it it could be very serious. Serious as in stillborn or a very short infancy. I have a level 2 ultrasound scheduled on August 12 with a specialist. They will be able to tell me if there are any other defects at this time. Joe and I would like you to fast with us this Sunday. I am trying to be optimistic, but the thought continues to come to my mind, "the Lord will not give us more than we can handle." Give me strength. Thank you all for your support. You can call me if you have questions, but I will probably just cry at you. I love you all.

It's a ...

BOY! Yes, everyone else was wrong. They were all convinced it was a girl. I think we are naming him David Verl Petersen. I have lots of cool pictures, but I can't find them. Joe will have to help me later. We went to Wild West Town and the kids loved it. We also made three batches of super yummy jam. Yes, I will share. The best is currant black raspberry. Holy amazing. Have fun everyone and then blog it!

Test

Senior Pictures

Embrace the awkwardness of the standard drape.  Marquie looked beautiful anyways!  We had a good time and got some good pictures, even though it took foreeeeeeeever.

Mom:  "Marquie, you have some really cute pictures there."

Marquie:  "I am a cute girl."

Ummm...Hi

Ponderings

I was listening to Pres. Uchdorf's (or however you spell it) talk from the Priesthood session of conference. I just love the thought of not being distracted by a burnt out 20 cent light bulb. That's all on that subject.

I cannot stress how excited I am to have you all at our house for the family reunion.

Men, are you still wishing to do a guy's morning on Friday? We don't have the option of going shooting, thus fishing is the closest and totally ***FREE*** activity we can do....for those that are interested. I am thinking that we start at 6:00 am (I'll settle for 7:00am. Heather said that if I said 5:30, you would all kill me.) and fish for two hours. I have 2 open reel poles, 1 closed reel pole, 1 spiderman pole, 2 barbie poles, and one fly rod. In case you were wondering...the spiderman pole is actually prety nice. It has caught more fish than the Barbie poles. Be thinking of what pole you would like to use. I'll use whatever. We can even draw straws for the barbie poles...if we want to. We wil be fishing for large mouth bass on our subdivision pond, where a fishing license is not required.

The other option is that I need a hole dug, 3 feet deep and 4 feet wide for a new tree in my yard. Any takers? It's pretty large.

Another random thought...I am so pleased in my wife and her abilities, or soon to have abilities, to run the young womens orgaization for our ward. She has received multiple complements already from the bishopric.

Ok that's all, I promise.

Soap

Yes, I know a silly title. I have discovered a wonderful soap. In our current financial situation we have had to learn to be a bit more frugal. I finally ran out of laundry soap and could not justify going the hour to costco for it. Neither did I have $25 to buy it. We went to Wally world in search of an alternative. Suprise for us, our alternative was only $5 for a very large box. We have learned we can use only 1/4 of the amount we used to use and our clothes smell better. I don't even have to use bleach on my towels anymore. What is it you ask? Dad, you will appreciate this the most. Arm and Hammer baking soda luandry soap. Yep, that's it and it's wonderful. Happy laundry to you all!

long overdue silly update. :)

and girls camp was lots of fun, and school is out, no big news. i'm sorry i've completely and utterly failed in my blogging duties.
Being a YCL was good. I didn't want to go to camp, of course, that's how I am. But of course, I got there, absolutely loved it. I said if I liked it this year I would do my best to go next year, so hopefully i'll be able to go next year. I got to be over a group of 2nd years (8 of them)....yeah....they were an interesting bunch all together. One of the stake leaders called them the group of Princesses. sheesh. anyways. I was over them with Nina and Naomi from our ward. They are from Ethiopia. Freakin' cool. I was really worried and thought I would have to run it, but I learned a lot about them. It was so much fun working with them. no pictures from camp..sorry.
The last day of school(well, week really) we did nothing. basically. nothing. all. week. but ya know, whatever. I ran around school the last day and blew up balloons and yeah. had fun. took lots of pictures. cuz that's how i am. that's what the 2 pics of me and other people are. :)
and Mom and I (and Dad a little) have been doing puzzles.... I did a 500 piece one. It was missing a few pieces. Then we did a 750 piece with allll the pieces there...now, welll...we are working on a 1000 piece of some canyon. sheesh it's annoying.
and a quote:
"That 500 piece puzzle was like, 1/2 the size of the one we are doing now... (1000 pieces)"
DUH!!!!!! Luckily, though... I caught myself before I said it unawares of what i was saying. :)
and that's the end and there are pictures of our these here our puzzles:

my picture gallery :)

Here folks, are 6 pictures in frames that we took to WalMart and had them make all perty for us. I took all of them except 1. that would be the one with me in it... that James took! far left. :) I'm so excited and they make me really happy. I know pride is bad, but they are Gorgeous and I'm proud... :) I wish you all could come see them. If you click on the pictures, you can probably see them better. The picture with the microwave is their semi-permanent residence. For the time. until mom decides she can move them. Really we got them for my room....but she loves them soooo much...

Loving me some Craigslist

I've been waiting almost 10 years for nightstands. In Peru I mounted a plastic shelf to the wall, which was adequate, but I finally bought nightstands that are the perfect height for my overly tall bed, and I love them! They're vintage, beautifully shaped, and ready to be sanded and painted to my heart's content, after which I will adorn them with beautiful hardware. I mean, one can splurge a little when there are only 2, don't you think? Now, if you look closely, and you're very clever, you'll be able to tell what they really are (not nightstands!)
Did you guess it? They're sewing machines! Oh, I'm a happy boy.

HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday with your friends around you. We attended the fireworks/band concert at the park last night. It was lovely. I did have a little melancholy as I missed fireworks with my grandchildren. We are going out to breakfast this morning at Cracker Barrel, thought it would just be a fun thing to do. We miss you all today, would love to have a family BBQ and do our own fireworks tonight! You're all welcome!

A Joyful Day it is!

Thank you all for your kind wishes and we return them to you, Heather and Joe. The greatest blessing that has ever come into my life is my lovely bride. I am of all men most blessed to have had the Lord introduce me to Lynne Workman and that she saw something in that tangled mess that she could love. Thank you sweetheart.
AND TO HEATHER AND JOE!

Happy day

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM AND DAD (GRANDMA AND GRANDPA)!
