So...Dad and I flew to Chicago on Wednesday, he worked, I played. Then Thursday morning we rented a car and went up to Johnsburg to work on the house so we could get it rented. James and Liz met us there with their big red truck full of equipment to trim and clean. The guys started trimming and Liz and I left to pick up some supplies. While we were gone, our realtor's broker came by and before we could even get all the supplies, Dad called and told us to come back.
Well, to make a long story short, we ceased our clean-up, changed the locks on the doors, took down the shelves in the garage and a few things from the house, put the house on the market for sale, had a really fun lunch at the new Olive Garden in McHenry and left.
We are relieved to have the house on the market and not have to deal with renters anymore. Annoyed at the expense we all incurred to do a job that didn't need to be done (especially on James and Liz's part). Totally grateful for James and Liz and boys who came to work hard and did a fabulous job on the trees in the very overgrown yard. By the way, Joe, the mulberry, or loganberry or whatever it is, was covered with berries...which we picked and ate....and is, what? I'd say 15 feet tall and HUGE!!!! The bushes on the berm were also about 10 feet high....
It was sad to see the yard in that condition, but even so, it was beautiful. It was especially difficult for Dad to walk away from that home that we loved and not have it in tip top shape...the realtor said it wouldn't make any difference what shape it was in and putting more money into it was just throwing money away.
Just wanted you to know....
Wish I had pictures, but neglected to take any.

It was such fun to be together. I took a photo with my phone—I'll try to get it on here.
That would be great! Thanks.
