Lunch

Now, why did I post a picture of my lunch...it's not an especially healthy lunch...tuna fish sandwich and a few potato chips? Well, I'm going to tell you, whether you want to know or not...because it brought back memories from way, way back.

When I was a little girl, in elementary school, tuna fish sandwiches were my favorite. We usually ate hot lunches in the cafeteria so it was a special treat to get a sandwich from home. And, they were almost always accompanied by potato chips. I loved removing the top of my sandwich and putting the potato chips inside and eating my sandwich like that. These lunch ponderings also made me think of other things that happened during lunch. Some really weird things I remember...

telling whoever was standing next to me in line that my daddy said I would have strawberry blond hair...weird (I don't think that ever happened).

finding out, while standing in the lunch line, that President Kennedy had been assassinated. That was pretty unbelievable for a little girl, living in a small sheltered community in northern Utah.

eating cooked (really drowned and cooked) spinach for the first time and deciding it wasn't that bad (it probably was).

thinking how big the 6th graders were who helped in the lunchroom...eventually I even got to be one of them.

Just wanted to share with you.

Mom, thanks for sharing your memories. I don't think I've ever before heard any elementary stories from you. How strange that you didn't tun out strawberry blonde . . .

I love the stories as well. I think it is time to implement grandma stories. :)
