Robin Red Breast

I always thought the appearance of the Robin was one of the first signs of spring. As I sit at my computer and look out the window, I spy a flock of maybe 100 robins feeding on the bounty of my lawn. I can see them pulling worms (and I hope some of those pesky lady bugs) that are close to or on top of the lawn because of the heavy rain we've received the last few days. Isn't today January 7th? That was never spring to me, but always the middle of the winter.

School was canceled, AGAIN, yesterday with a 2 hour delay this morning. It rained. It is a balmy 40 degrees here in Front Royal, VA. I'm wondering, is this a Virginia thing...or a sign...
